He still gets a quarter from those big tippers whose idea of a handsome gratuity is 60 years behind the times. Roedel has a name for such tips. He calls them "Crosleys."
"Now, we usually get $1 a customer to clean off their seat, welcome them to the ballpark and ask them if there's anything we can get."

As the wages have increased, so have the tips.
When Board started at Crosley Field in 1947, ushers' take-home pay was $1.50 per game. No extra pay came with extra innings. Today it's $8.95 per hour. If the game goes past the bottom of the ninth, the meter keeps running.
